Denver, CO (PRWEB) July 4, 2008 -- Residents across the Rocky Mountain Region will be able to experience Washington, D.C. up close and personal when the Denver 2008 Convention Host Committee brings the American Presidential Experience, the largest traveling exhibit of presidential memorabilia, into the Mile High City as part of the events and activities associated with Denver's hosting of the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Appearing for the first time in the Rocky Mountain Region, the spectacular 150,000-square-foot, non-partisan exhibit invites everyone to learn more about democracy in action through educational exhibits celebrating three centuries of presidential history.
The American Presidential Experience will be open to the public and located at Invesco Field at Mile High (Parking Lot D) from Aug. 22 - 29. The exhibit is managed by Political Americana and curator James Warlick. Warlick is also associated with WorthPoint, a Web 2.0-based data and media company that offers a database of sales records on art, antiques and collectibles. Worthpoint will invite people to bring their own political and presidential memorabilia to the exhibit and have them evaluated by experts.
"We're excited to have the American Presidential Experience come to Denver during the 2008 Democratic National Convention," said Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper. "This exhibit provides our city's residents and guests with a wonderful opportunity to learn more about presidential history and democracy in an interactive and engaging way."
The non-partisan exhibit will include a wide variety of items and activities, including life-size replicas of Air Force One and the Oval Office, six presidential libraries (from three Republican and three Democratic administrations), a collection of first lady gowns, and celebrity book author signings.
As part of the American Presidential Experience, experts from Worthpoint will be on hand to evaluate items brought in by the public. Additionally, those at the exhibit will have a chance to auction off items that they bring in.
"We want to give the public a chance to dust off those antiques from generations past to see if there is any monetary worth to them," said Worthpoint CEO Will Seippel. "You never know where there may be a 'diamond in the rough.'"
